Liquidnet, the global institutional marketplace, is the primary corporate partner of the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village (ASYV), a unique and ambitious project for orphans in Rwanda that will serve as a model for meeting the holistic needs of traumatized youth. The ASYV is the signature program of Liquidnet’s philanthropic initiatives, known as Global Social Engagement.
A group of employees and their significant others - called the Liquidnet Family - have been volunteering since late 2006 to support this project, adding critical bandwidth in areas such as strategic planning, website development, outreach, village needs research, and financial planning.
Some of these volunteers are now going to visit Rwanda to not only see the status of the project, but also explore Rwanda’s unique culture and understand the context in which the ASYV has developed.
This blog will serve to chronicle the impressions of these “Liquidnet Family Rwanaderers.”
